Changes to cross country venues

The 3rd fixture of the NWCCL on November 23rd has been changed from Northop to Wrexham.

The NWCC Championship on January 25th will now be held in Northop.

These changes have come about because Rhug Farm was not available for the Champs on that date in January.

Thanks to all who ran, set the course out, marshalled or served refreshments at Treborth!

Cakes for the Fell Relays

This is the final call for CAKE BAKERS for the Fell Relays. We need just a few more bakers so we can get to 1000 slices of cake to sell to 1128 runners + friends/family. If you haven't volunteered to bake, please do so now by emailing Louise Emery-Jones

Louise will be at the XC event at St David’s School in Llandudno on Saturday 19th to COLLECT CAKE for those that can't get their produce over to Llanberis. She will be there from 1.30pm-3.30pm hanging around the XC start with lots of big cake boxes.

Desperately seeking a partner for the OMM mountain marathon which takes place the same weekend as the Snowdonia Marathon 26th/27th October. The entry is for the C class and the event area is the Brecon Beacons.

So help me celebrate as I reach the grand old age of 70 that weekend and also as a bonus there will be a better chance of doing well in the vets handicap if you are also a vet. (Ashley Wager and myself won the Vets class last year)

The only requirement is to be able to carry a rucksack weighing approx 14lbs over the two days, and to be able to travel down on the Friday

(I will pamper my partner by brewing and cooking as per their requirements at the overnight camp.)

Lightweight gear can be loaned for the weekend if required!!

Reporting the reality of Tick-borne Diseases across Europe – We Need Your Support

Tick-borne diseases are the most common vector-borne diseases in Europe. “Vectors” are organisms that spread disease by feeding on humans, such as mosquitoes, ticks and sandflies.

In October 2012, the European Commission recognised the impact of tick-borne diseases by adding tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) to the official list of mandatory notifiable diseases. This means that doctors in all EU countries are required by law to report cases of TBE to the appropriate national authority. Despite this, reporting varies considerably from country to country. The Tick-borne Diseases project is addressing this variation by building awareness and tackling misconceptions about tick-borne diseases among at-risk groups.

You can support this important project by completing a short online survey on tick-borne diseases. It has been developed by a steering committee of experts and is designed to gauge awareness around tick-borne diseases. The survey should take about 5 minutes to complete.

The results of the survey will be used to support a campaign to ensure that the most at-risk people are taking appropriate precautions and protecting themselves so that they can decrease their risk of tick-borne infections. A report containing the findings of the survey will be launched at the European Parliament in November 2013.

British Fell Relays 20th October

Hosted by us!! Lots to do before this huge event as we now have over 1100 competitors, plus spectators.

The event is being run from Glyn Rhonwy Estate just before you get into the village of Llanberis. This area will eventually become a business park but currently it has roads, and is ideal spaces for running a fell event from!

The Club will be entering a number of teams to race and the rest of us will be busy serving tea and cakes, marshaling and generally running round after everyone to ensure the 2013 event is a cracker.

Contact Maggie Oliver (Marshal Manager) or Louise Emery (Catering) or Craig (Chairman) to offer your help.
