Meirionnydd Running Club were well represented at Ras Moel Siabod which was held in
Capel Curig last Saturday afternoon. A total of four club athletes formed part
of a field of 80 who gathered to take on the 6.2 mile fell race which also
included a total of 2,300 feet of climbing.
Continuing her fantastic run of
form in the event was Kate Bailey, formerly of Dolgellau, who led home the
Meirionnydd quartet as she came home in a time of 1hr 00.25mins, a time which
also claimed overall victory in the female section of the race.
Two Meirionnydd Running Club
athletes also ventured to
Bro Dysynni were
represented by two athletes at the Friday evening running of the Packwood 10k
race held at Ruyton near Oswestry. Malcolm Taylor of Criccieth led home the duo
in a time of 51.42mins whilst Brenda Jones of Llanelltyd claimed her customary
victory in the Female Over-65 category, on this occasion in a time of 52.25mins.
There is local action this Saturday
afternoon as Dolgellau plays host to the Nigel Evans (Plasterer of
Distinction) sponsored Dolgellau 5 Mile Road Race. The main event is due off at
1.30pm, with the affiliated fun run due off slightly earlier at 12.30pm.
Registration will be at the Dolgellau Rugby Club with race entries being
accepted on the day. An added attraction this year will be the sight of a
number of Dolgellau's fire-fighters who will be completing the event dressed in
full fire-fighting gear. Further details relating to the race can be found
