News Report 21st March 2010
A team of five Bro Dysynni A.C. athletes headed
south to Rhayader last Saturday afternoon, with three of the five taking on the
tough Rhayader Round the Lakes 20 mile challenge, the remaining duo taking on
the shorter 5 mile event.
Making his first competitive appearance of 2010 was Dewi
Roberts, and it was left to the Blaenau Ffestiniog-based athlete to lead home
the Dysynni contingent in the 20 mile race, as he crossed the
finishing line in an impressive time of 2hrs 21.27mins. Next home for
Dysynni was the redoubtable Brenda Jones, claiming victory in the Female
Over-65 category, in a time of 3hrs 24.41mins. To complete a successful weekend
for the Llanelltyd-based athlete, she was also crowned Bro Dysynni
A.C. Running Handicap winner for 2009 (see attached picture). Completing the
trio who took part in the 20 mile challenge was Marit Evans of Dolgellau,
covering the course in a pleasing time of 4hrs 03.32mins.
Over the shorter 5 mile course, Nigel Evans of Dolgellau dusted
off the cobwebs in his first competitive race for 9 months as he finished in a
time of 34.06mins with team-mate, Malcolm Taylor of Criccieth following in a
time of 41.51mins.
There was also a competitive outing for Rebecca Dallimore,
formerly of Dolgellau, but now based in the north of Scotland recently. Her
chosen event was the popular City of Inverness Half Marathon, the former
member of Bro Dysynni covering the 13.1 mile distance in a time of 1hr
53.37mins.
Last Sunday also saw Bro Dysynni A.C. hold their annual
