November is proving to be a fruitful month for one athlete affiliated to Bro Dysynni, the athlete in question being Brenda Jones, who has collected both national and international accolades during the course of the 11th month.
On the international front, the Llanelltyd-based athlete was chosen as part of the Welsh squad who headed to the Queens University grounds in Belfast recently for the British & Irish Masters Cross Country Internationals. Representing Wales as part of the squad within the Female Over-65 category, the Dysynni athlete helped Wales to a bronze medal within the age group, completing the muddy course in a pleasing time of 32.17mins.
The Dysynni athlete also recently captured the North Wales 5 Mile Road Running Championship within the Female Over-70 category, an event held in conjunction with the Spillane & Co. Wealth Management Abergele 5 Mile Road Race, on this occasion in a time of 43.53mins. Also in action at Abergele were Graeme Stringer of Llanelltyd, the Meirionnydd runner home in a time of 38.25mins and John Tee of Blaenau Ffestiniog, the Bro Dysynni athlete completing the course in a time of 44.17mins.
Athletes affiliated to Meirionnydd Running Club have been very prominent in the season ending standings of both the North Wales and Welsh Fell Running Championships. Within the WFRA North Wales Championship Series based over 8 races held during the course of 2012, the Meirionnydd club completed a clean sweep within the Senior Male category, the 1-2-3 being accomplished by Ifan Richards of Brithdir, Dave Parker & Glyn Griffin of Llanfrothen. There was also a pleasing 11th placed standing within the Senior Male category for Alan Jones of Blaenau Ffestiniog. Also placing well for Meirionnydd were Juliet Edwards & Arfon Hughes of Dolgellau, the former claiming 2nd spot within the Female Over-50 category, the latter 10th spot within the Male Over-40 section.
On a national level, two of the above claimed 2nd spot within the final standings of the 6 race inov-8 sponsored WFRA Welsh Open Series. The two athletes in question were Dave Parker, 2nd Senior Male & Juliet Edwards, 2nd within the Female Over-50 section.
