A relatively quiet peiod has seen local athletes compete at three
different venues recently.
Firstly,
two local athletes took to the hills as they headed to Capel Curig to take part
in the 6.2 mile Moel Siabod Fell Race, an event which also included 2,300 feet
of climbing. The first of the duo home in a time of 57.26mins was Steve
Gilliland of Tywyn, the Bro Dysynni athlete also having the added satisfaction
of a 3rd place finish overall as well as claiming victory in the male over-40
category. Also showing well in her age category was Juliet Edwards of
Dolgellau, the Meirionnydd Running Club athlete claiming 3rd place in the
female over-40 category in a finishing time of 1hr 18.55mins.
Two Bro
Dysynni athletes headed to Gobowen recently for the annual 4 mile race
organised by Oswestry Olympians. The duo were led home by Barrie Jackson of
Bala in 30.38mins with Malcolm Taylor of Criccieth following in 31.38mins,
which also claimed 2nd place in the male over-60 category.
Finally,
Gavin Griffiths of Tywyn was also in action recently at the BUPA Great Welsh
Run, a 10k event held in Cardiff. The Dysynni athlete was well pleased
with his finishing time of 56.51mins achieved in a rare race outing.
This coming
Saturday, Tywyn will very much be the centre of attention as it hosts the
24th running of the 'Race The Train' event. Further details relating to the
