News Report 6th February 2006
A
seasons best turnout saw 9 athletes from Bro Dysynni head to Oswestry last
Saturday afternoon for the fifth and final fixture of the Majestic Travel North
Wales Cross Country League.
The
6 ladies competing all ran well, but could not quite provide the results
required for Dysynni to gain promotion to the top flight, as they finished the
season in an overall 3rd place in Division 2 behind Denbigh and Abegele
Harriers with only the top two claiming promotion. On this occasion
the ladies were led home by Rosie Naish in 21.52mins, she was followed by
Sheila Jones of Pwllheli in 24.43mins, Brenda Jones of Llanelltyd in 27.34mins,
Yolanda Marconi-Nolan in 29.02mins, Marit Evans of Dolgellau on her cross country
debut in 29.06mins and the evergreen Marjorie Griffiths of Aberystwyth in
32.35mins.
The
male trio were led home, not for the first time this season, by Gwyn Jones of
Pwllheli in 42.05mins. He in turn was followed in by Bob Chilton of Hermon in
44.57mins and Barrie Jackson of Bala in 49.47mins.
Details
of the individual awards won over the course of the 5 fixture cross country
season will be further detailed next week.
One
club runner headed even further afield and into Staffordshire as
Nigel Evans of Dolgellau competed in one of the premier 5 mile races around,
completing the Alsager 5 in a time of 31.30mins.
